Your team and your responsibilities

Team description

 

The Vehicle Production Engineering (VPE) Division supports the introduction of new vehicle models into Toyota’s European manufacturing plants.
Within VPE, the Body Assembly Department leads development activities such as:

  • New vehicle planning
  • Design for manufacture
  • Production line set-up
  • Introduction of tooling and equipment for mass production

 

This role is based at Toyota’s Zaventem Technical Centre in Brussels; however, shortly after the start of employment, the candidate will be assigned to work at our factory in France or UK for a minimum period of two years.

 

Your responsibilities

 

As an Engineer in Body Assembly, you will help shape the future of mobility by preparing new vehicle and production concepts for mass production. In this role, you will:

  • Translate vehicle style and design expectations into practical, high-quality, and scalable manufacturing concepts.
  • Assess design data against Toyota’s manufacturing standards, identifying impacts on production processes.
  • Collaborate with Production and Equipment teams to evaluate process feasibility and propose improvements that balance Safety, Quality, Cost, Investment, and Productivity.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process optimization through benchmarking and analysis of best practices.
  • Lead process improvements and equipment design using 3D models, simulation tools, 2D drawings, and BOMs.
  • Explore and introduce innovative manufacturing technologies—including digital tools, automation, and virtual reality applications—to improve workflows and support Toyota’s vision of the factory of the future.

 

Your Profile

  • You are fluent in English (TME's business language). Knowledge of French is an asset.
  • You hold a Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • This position is designed for people with 2-4 years of experience in body assembly within an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • You have hands-on experience working on the shopfloor and collaborating closely with production teams.
  • You have experience with CATIA V5, Process Simulate (PSR), AutoCAD, or similar engineering and manufacturing tools.
  • You have strong Microsoft Excel skills; familiarity with Power BI or Power Automate is an advantage.
  • You are able to manage technical data effectively, including 3D models, drawings, process documentation, and production records.
  • You are a proactive, hands-on engineer with strong communication and problem-solving skills, capable of working effectively both independently and within multicultural teams.
  • You thrive in a dynamic manufacturing environment and are driven by continuous improvement.
  • You are open to international assignments, relocation opportunities, and occasional weekend work at manufacturing plants outside Belgium to support critical project milestones.
