The Service Parts Supply Chain Group operates 18 central distribution warehouses throughout Europe. Using a hub & spoke distribution method, they ship thousands of components and accessories every day to over 3300 retailers throughout Europe and affiliates across the globe.
Team description
The warehouse currently employs 53 people (both Office and Warehouse) and stores approximately 54.000 part numbers with an inventory value of € 5M. The warehouse receives parts Toyotas main European warehouse (TPCE) in Belgium. In as continuous strong growing market, it supplies parts overnight to over 100 Toyota and Lexus retailers in Poland, Lithuania and Latvia, Same Day Service to Warsaw retailers, and Toyota Motor Poland’s vehicle hub, satisfying over 8000 orders per day.
The role encompasses all aspects of the daily supervision of a stand-alone warehouse operation - Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and people management. In line with Toyota philosophy the Supervisor is expected to monitor continuous improvement of the operations utilising latest TPS thinking. The position, reporting into the Assistant Warehouse Manager (based in TPCPL, Warsaw)
Your responsibilities
Accountability 1: Depot Health & Safety management
#1: safety always first, zero tolerance related to safety, lead by example and ensure Stop-Call-Wait Culture
Create a zero risk operations environment through proactive risk evaluation.
Health & Safety Assessments: Daily safety patrols,
Safety reporting: yokoten safety issues, accident & incident reporting
Analyse safety issues, uncover root causes and define countermeasures to avoid re-occurring incidents/accidents
Promote and implement best practises.
Continuous improvement of operation, focussing on ergonomically aspects.
Maximize separation of men & machine and machine & machine.
Accountability 2: Quality
Deliver ‘best in class’ quality to dealers.
Ensure high quality standards up to the dealers,
Define root-causes and implement countermeasures to improve quality through using 5 step / TBP approach
Foster customer first environment
Monitor quality KPI’s and priorities for kaizen (e.g. sorting errors, warehouse denials, non-shipped lines, damages, ability factors, productivity indicators).
Report & follow up quality results on daily base
Guide operation if needed to ensure better quality
Accountability 3: Operations management
Deliver ‘best in class’ operations by using Toyota Way tools: LDC approach, FMDS, standardisation, SOP creation and follow-up OJD, QCC.
Control and monitoring of all incoming / outgoing goods / transfers / transfers according to standardized procedures and defined priorities.
Follow-up operational KPI’s, face challenging targets and assures that objectives are met.
Planning of resources: weekly and daily workload, manpower & equipment planning and follow-up
Monitor operational KPI’s (efficiency, equipment, material)
Initiation and ensuring the implementation of material flow concepts, internal operation, transport systems and storage techniques to achieve optimal productivity
Gemba presence, warehouse process supervision
Ensure smooth operations through in & outbound flow control & planning (Heijunka)
Irregularity control
Visualise process, Yamazumi, M&I flow, Standard Operation Procedures
Translate + communicate local storage issues with Ass. WHM
Implement and follow-up local warehouse kaizen plan
Encourage, follow up & guidance of operational kaizen activities
Accountability 4: HRD & People management
Set up & monitor local versatility/skill matrix & create development plan for all associates to reach multi-skill level
Identify development needs warehouse associates
Ensure clear and structure Toyota Way competencies appraisal within Warehouse Member
Organise/facilitate training plan for office & warehouse in line with defined development needs, facilitate OJD
Guide & support during job assessment’s,
Work regulations monitor and follow up
Communication: regular team-briefing
Code of Conduct: Ensure TME/depot regulations are followed and implemented.
Accountability 5: Cost management
Responsible for the provision of all necessary information arising in his sphere of responsibility to all relevant posts
Effective use of available equipment, material and resources
Initiate + follow up cost kaizen possibilities in the warehouse
Equipment & fleet control
Daily manpower & machines planning and follow up
Education level & general experience:
> 5 years’ experience in logistics and/or shop floor management (preferably automotive)
Technical knowledge:
Understanding of operational processes and flows.
Fluent in communication (local language, English)
Knowledge of P.C. (word, excel, power point, …)
Breadth of expertise:
Experience in total responsibility for delivery of daily result in a shop floor environment.
Proven track record of people management on both shop floor
